Friday Freebies

Publix Supermarkets has several clubs that might interest you, all of which offer some freebies.
The Publix Wine Guide, for those over 21, offers a free subscription to the Publix Grape (TM), a quarterly wine magazine as well as access to a site that answers all your questions about wine in simple English.
The Publix Baby Club is geared towards newborns to two year olds. Members receive Publix Baby Club (R) newsletters and coupons (all parents need these) that are timed to your child's growth. In addition, all first time parents also get a free copy of the American Academy of Pediatrics' "Caring for Your Baby and Young Child", which sells for $20 in stores.
For toddlers and pre-schoolers ages 2 to 4, there is Publix Preschool Pals. Here you get parenting information, a quarterly newsletter, an activity book for 2 year olds, and a CD ROM for 3 year olds full of educational activities and games. My own kids belonged to this and loved the games on the CD ROM.
For families of all ages there is the Publix FamilyStyle (R) magazine, which is published four times a year in february, May, August and November. This magazine has, according to Publix "the season's best parenting insights, kid-friendly recipes, time-saving tips, safety news, fitness facts, and more to help your family thrive everywhere life takes you, from the breakfast table to the classroom to the soccer field and back home."
Finally, and one of my personal favorites, is Upromise. While not a program by Publix, they are a member of this national program where you can help save for a child's college education simply by doing what you do everyday, shopping. All you do is register participating credit cards or store affinity cards. Everytime you make a purchase with that card at a participating company, restaraunt or store, such as Publix, a portion of that sale, from 1-5% depending on the purchase, is credited to your Upromise account. You can set up an interest earning 529 educational account for your savings to be deposited directly in to. Also, once an account is established you can have your freiends and relatives link their cards to your child's account to have the savings multiply even faster.
