Cagle’s Dairy. A working dairy farm in Hickory Flat with educational tours for families and school children. The farm features a dairy tour, calf barn, a cow train to ride, hayrides and bonfires, a seasonal vegetable and flower garden and a “kiddie korrall” playground. Centennial Olympic Park. The 21-acre park in downtown Atlanta was originally constructed to be the public gathering place for the 1996 Olympic Games. Today it is the home to ice skating in Winter, festivals year round, Summer concerts and the Fountain of Rings, a dancing water fountain with free daily shows that is a favorite of kids to splash in during hot weather. Center for Puppetry Arts. An interactive, educational museum and theater featuring more than 1,000 puppets. Various shows are done throughout the year including some featuring life size puppets. The center also has a research library with books, video tapes and photographs. Private birthday parties can be arranged. Chattahoochee Nature Center. Nature trails, wildlife exhibits, gardens and guided hikes. Various special events offered throughout the year. Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday, Noon-5pm Sunday. Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. 16 park units along the river with over 50 miles of hiking and jogging trails. The river is a stocked trout stream with 23 species of game fish. Biking, rafting and picnic areas are some of the amenities offered. The visitor contact station is located at the Island Ford Unit. Admission: $3 a day, $25 annual pass. Children’s Art Museum. Operated by the Gwinnett Council for the Arts, the museum combines artwork with a range of activities to enhance and reinforce the visual experience. Admission also includes the Hudgens Center for the Arts and Weeks Sculpture Garden. Hours: 1pm-5pm Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-3pm Saturdays. Inside CNN Studio Tour. Take a 55-minute, behind the scenes tour of the CNN newsroom, special effects studio and museum. Hours: 9am-5pm daily except holidays. Admission: $11.75 ages 4-18, $14.75 adults. www.cnn.com/tour/atlanta

Cyclorama. The original theater in the round, the Cyclorama is a 360 degree painting 400 feet in length that depicts the Battle of Atlanta during the Civil war on July 22, 1864 and has been on display since 1893. The museum, located in Atlanta’s historic Grant Park, also features the locomotive TEXAS, which was at the center of an epic chase during the war. Guided tours and educational programs are offered.
